The Subaru Outback vs. the Toyota RAV4
Compare the 2019 Subaru Outback to the 2019 Toyota RAV4
We know that Grand Rapids area drivers are looking for the best when it comes to their next family SUV. Your choices might seem endless, so we put together this quick comparison so you can see exactly why the Subaru Outback is the right choice for you, no matter what your needs are in the Belmont area.
What's New for 2019?
There are several new features available to you on the Subaru Outback for the 2019 model year, including that you get the EyeSight® driver assist technology included standard. This means you don't have to spend more just to get the peace of mind that this bundle of safety technology brings you here in Rockford. You'll also find extra USB ports and an upgraded driver information display.
The RAV4 has been completely redesigned for the 2019 model year, bringing you all-new features and a new look inside and out. Most notable changes include an increased horsepower for the gasoline engine, a larger infotainment screen, new safety technology, and five trim levels.

Performance and Capabilities
You have two engine options with the Subaru Outback, and you can't go wrong with either. The Outback features a SUBARU BOXER® 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine standard, though you can opt for a more powerful 256-horsepower six-cylinder available to you on the top two trim levels. The continuously variable transmission brings you smooth acceleration and a seamless delivery of power, without the drone of other CVTs. The Outback also comes standard with symmetrical all-wheel drive.
The RAV4 is powered by a 203-horsepower four-cylinder engine that comes up a little short in person, though on paper it shines. The engine can be loud when you're accelerating hard, but still provides you with ample power and acceleration. The RAV4 is available as a hybrid, if that is something that you're looking for.

Technology and Safety
You don't have to jump passed the base trim to get ample modern technology and features with the new Subaru Outback thanks to a long list of standard tech features to love. You'll get a 6.1-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and so much more all come included standard. You can add an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation and hands-free text messaging as well to enjoy around Grandville.
Safety features of the Subaru Outback include the EyeSight® driver assist technology that brings you pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and sway warning along with a rearview camera. Available safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, automatic high beams, steering-responsive headlights, and reverse automatic braking.
The Toyota RAV4 features the Entune infotainment system standard on a 7-inch touchscreen with Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and a wi-fi hotspot. You'll miss out on Android Auto, but you can add many of the same features like navigation, a larger screen, extra USB ports, and satellite radio.
The new RAV4 adds many safety features for this model year including automatic high beams, forward collision warning, a rearview camera, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and more. Available safety systems include a 360-degree parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear cross-traffic braking, and low-speed collision warning.
