Not to alarm you or anything, but summer is ending soon. We're going to be transitioning to fall, and soon enough the lovely Midwestern winters will be here. For all of us in Grand Rapids who have lived through it, we know the drill. At service centers like ours at Fox Subaru, we always make sure to remind people that it's good to keep in mind the change of seasons and how that relates to your vehicle maintenance. As a yearly reminder, we're here to offer some preparation tips.
In terms of service you need done, make sure to get any service like oil changes and fluid checks completed if you haven't. Fresh engine oil is vital for all seasons, but fresh oil in the winter is beneficial. Same with fluid, you don't want low levels and have it possibly freeze on a cold day. Additionally, we like to make sure people have plenty of time to get their winter tires on if you use them. Providing more grip on the road in snowy, wintery weather is a plus for those across Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo.
Another must for winter service is getting your battery tested. If it's running on solid levels of power, that's a good thing and it should get you through the cold months. If it's less than ideal, we can make sure you're outfitted with a new battery so you don't have a car that fails to start on a cold winter day, especially if you're not near an area where you can stay warm.
We also suggest getting the ice scrapers and brushes in the vehicle, as well as a blanket, first aid, and road safety kits just in case so you're prepared. We're here to provide you with all types of Subaru weather vehicle prep and are happy to help you today. You can schedule a service appointment to get started soon.
